Can I keep my aol email address?

I absolutely hate AOL  - unreliable rubbish!!
So I would like to change my ISP, but keep my aol email address because I can't be bothered to change it everywhere.
I have asked aol if it is possible and they said no, but then they would.....
So, can I ask someone sensible please? Is it possible, and how do I do it!
Thank you

I'd also be interested in this as I am with AOL and would consider changing, though I don't find them unreliable at allThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
I very much doubt that you can take your AOL address with you. I have heard that even if you close your account the email address might remain functional for some time... Dont quote me on that though as I dont personally believe it would.
I think the best thing to do is take the plunge and sign up with an ISP independent email provider and update your various accounts. Its a balls ache, but you'd only have to do it once and then it'd never matter who your ISP was.
As for provider I highly recommend GMAIL. Its fast, powerful, has a lovely clean interface and doesn't distract you with adverts. I dont care what anyone says, its without doubt the best online email application going.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" When I left AOL I remember being able to set up my email again via the webpage, so I managed to keep my old email addresses - I still use them now.
I think it's just a matter of re registering them.0 -

Aha, thats probably what I was getting at - thanks for posting. I'd still recommend ditching and getting a GMail account though, just to be on the safe side.SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. when you have left you pick up your email via the www.aol.com site, use your user name and password. Download AIM to carry on using messenger, although it is a basic version0

Can I still do that though, or will it get deleted?
I would really like to be able to access my old emails too.MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!0 -

Fantastic.
So, before I take the plunge - I just need to leave AOL as my ISP but my email address will keep working and I can access it from www.aol.com without having to re-register?MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!0 -
yes you can still use your aol adress after you leave , as already stated just log into aol.com. i left aol 4 years ago and still use my aol adress as my main adress (had a lot of adresses on it and its the easiest to remember) just as long as you keep using it it wont be termenated.0
