I work for a collections dep't. I am nice! Actually I was told by my suporvisor that I am too nice & that I should be more 'demanding'. I will not be more demanding. I get payment from most customers. Most have forgotten to pay tbh. I am a first port of call collector of that makes sense! I do try & help any customer who has money probs. We have repayment plans that I try & encourage people to go on before the debt gets too out of hand.
Do you all still love me, am I still welcome on mse?! ;)

You are still welcome here manicdays. I'm just wondering how long you have done you current job? I couldn't help thinking 'nice person, I give them six months in that job'.
I don't mean that in a nasty way, more as a compliment.
    Regards

    hi
one company caused me no end of trouble they called me at home left messages on my awnserphone not just asking me to call them but saying "what shame you will feel when your friends and family find out""think of the children""do the right decent thing pay us the 10K you owe""dont you have any shame" these were all left on my awnserphone in person i have been told you think your f****** clever?your just a sad W***** and many other delightfull words At all times i was stupid enough to phone these people back and take more abuse in the eight months it took us to save the £900 to go bust i had over 100 letters just from this one company from day one they had my CCCS forms that showed my income etc but just ignored them Then they moved up a gear phoneing me at work even though i had told them not to by now i was in a realy bad way there games were making me ill, they would phone my work place and threaten to tell my boss ,if i told them to go through the data protection act they just laughed then would hang up and phone staright back and talk to one of my staff about me Even told one of them how much i owed so everyone found out.In the end my boss got to hear about it so i had to go and see him aswell i handle very large sums of money in excess of £6,000.000 most of it in cash and they put my job in serious doubt i might be stupid but to imply to my work mates not to leave cash around me was just plain wrong in the end i taped these people and what they said is just out of this world!! when the sold my debts on the company they sold them to were just as bad i was just someone who didnt want to pay!!!
I could go on and on just to say at my lowest point i did run away from home i did to my shame take an overdose But lucky for me i was found i thought many times in the months before bankrupcy of just ending it all i had life insurance that would have paid out
Thankfully for me i have a great wife and children, money can not by them or replace them i know truly know what is important in life and its not money IM So ashamed of going bankrupt and dragging my wife down too Nothing will ever take that away Anyone who thinks its all about being flash with money lives in there own little world Just like i use too!
I cant find the words to say how they made me feel? worthless?pointless? utter faliure? all of those and more.I know what i did was wrong i paid them every last penny i had £40,000
  • what was the name of dca? this is the immoral treatment i was talking about i recieved phone calls at work oft were informed my employer even gave me the use of the firms solicitor free of charge i also did an article for a newspaper about these firms tactics .... i even drove to the company headquaters with a reporter, the abusive charactors on my answear phone were amazingly mute this is what i am saying they are not permitted to do this by law and should be stopped my mp said measures are being looked at but his advice if you feel threatened or intimidated make a complaint to your local police they have a duty to investigate ..you never no you might meet the charactor you spoke to on the phone : :T

it was the wonderfull MBNA a fine company as long as you dont owe any money to them!!
i dont know if they train some of there staff just to be rude but sorry to say this i knew if it was an irish accent i was in for a hard time!!(I must add i have nothing against the Irish!!my mother is one!!)They just talk to you like your scum there is no nice way to put it!!
i wont say who the debt agency is today because im not sure which one it was ! 2 have very similar names and to be fair one are a professional company But i sure will look as soon as i get home!
I accept that i owed them money and they want it back What i dont accept is the way they deal with you if i had died they would not have cared at all im just money to them not even a customer
There should be rules to limit the amount of unsecured credit you can have, there should be a higher minimum payment and it should be against the law to increase your credit limit with out you asking.Quite honestly to give someone a £13,500 credit limit to start is just plain stupid I Know i have been a complete fool and i spent it but honesly do any of you think its right how much credit or loans are advertised on tv?? Its going to get much worse this is only the start!! Last week natwest called my 73 year old mother, she has no income no house(lives in shelterd houseing) and yet they think its a great idea for her to have a credit card??Please just think of who your lending the money TOO!!!

here here paul10mm. i will also add not only are some of these companies immoral they are on occasion acting illegally. to harass someone for money when they know you are a bankrupt is illegal. this happens a lot.
also in reply to one of the posts many people do try and deal with debt before it gets as far as debt collection with no success

Simple i ran out of my own money i still had 25k i could spend on my cards i could have robbed peter to pay paul i just felt the right think to do was stop i spent all the savings from my house sale £40,000 paying them back but i still owed £100,000 hard to belive as i only earn £23,000
there is something wrong when you can have more money in credit than you can for a mortgage??

A little message to the "Let's shoot those in debt brigade.."

The reason why most people end up in debt is the practices these 'family loving' banks and organisations engage in, such as losing cheques and making you pay for it without a fight, hiking up incredible charges, not investigating fraud when it occurs, and generally behaving in a cavalier manner at all times.

My partner is bankrupt (£35k), I paid his fees on 4th January this year. The final straw was the Halifax who ignored fraudulent transactions on the account amounting to over £1k which caused charge after charge after charge. The Inland Revenue contributed to this wanting £12k's in tax for the year coming, they messed up their figures and charged everything twice applying again, charge after charge after charge. They didn't want to know, the staff in the bank thought it was appauling treatment and weren't suprised at all, they hear the horror stories regularly, and since they have no power to intervene anymore they can't sort out their customer's muddles. "I'm just here to shuffle bits of paper these days," the manager sighed.

No amount of reasoning or common sense could communicate with these faceless organisations.

So when you sit there and point the finger and say, "I'm so perfect, I'm not in debt, I pay all of my bills on time, you're irresponsible people to be in debt" you just wait until one of these companies messes up and it spirals out of control.

You'll start out determined knowing that you're in the right, and after you've spent a few weeks trying to sort everything out you'll realise, they're not moral nice helpful people, they're not there to help you, they're there to get their stats up so they get their bonus.

And all while you have your head in your hands wishing that somebody could help you, asking yourself why, "Why is this happening to me, what have I done in life, I haven't done anything wrong."

    http://www.debtquestions.co.uk/debt_forum/

And as for my history, I don't do credit, I don't do direct debits, I have a CRF full of nice 0's, and this is for one reason; I've been on the receiving end of these companies following an identity theft in 2004. And when the Police are involved these companies won't touch you, harrass you, or mess you about. Strange that init ;)

Looks like your other half's got himself sorted... avoided repaying debts by going bankrupt & gets you to pay the necessary fees...nice one!!!
