Does the calculator on the NS&I site for working out interest on index linked savings actually work? I fed in 15k purch on 1st Nov 2006 (3yrs) result 16,687.50, I then tried it for 1st July 2006 and it came up with 16,603.50. Am I missing something here

That is as it should be. Depending on what months you buy Savings Certificates in, the Index are linked to that month every year.
So yes, you would always get different interest in different months.
But Calculator does admit it is just an estimate so you are better off calling them up.0 -
Yes, it generally works pretty well but it's not perfect.
The glitch I'm finding at the moment is if I enter my purchase in March 09, for eg £15,000, if shows £15,103.50. That's a bit odd as we haven't yet got the Mar RPI valuation. If you put in Feb or Apr it shows £15,000.0 -
You own an RPI + 0.7% certificate by any chance? They've given you the lowest possible estimate by calculating based on the 0.7%0
