9.99 champagne Offenbach at Morrisons! (rrp 28.99)

I heard someone mention this offer while I was out at lunch yesterday.
When I went in to Morrisons the price sticker informed me that it was better than half price at 13.49, so I thought it was still worth a buy. When I put it through the till it went through for 9.99, so I think it is a bit of a hidden deal!
I bought this at the Morrisons on James Street in York, and I don't know when the deal ends, so if anyone has more information please update.

Just looking at a price checker, it seems that Sainsburys sell this for £27.99 a bottle - so it could be a genuine bargain!0

Well I've just driven back from the champagne region and I've sworn I'll never drink another drop. Awful weather, we arrived in Epernay at 12:05pm on Wednesday to find it shut until 2pm!
Spent the next hour and a half dragging ourselves and three hungry children around the town centre looking for a McDonalds, but there wasn't one - ended up having to buy ridiculously expensive filled baguettes that they nearly choked on. The town itself was barren and ugly.
I can understand the French not liking McDonalds as a symbol of American world influence and corporate domination, but you'd think they'd have some sort of equivalent for heavens sake! Or do they all just go home and sleep for two hours??
Anyway - they can keep their champagne. It's vintage cava for me from now on (not that sparkling chardonnay muck though).

ROFPMSL :rotfl:
You had to wait a whole 2 hours for some genuine French food instead of some USA franchised fast-food with no individuality.
So the poor weather and your poor choice of restaurants make THIS a bad deal ??
For god's sake get a grip.
Cava is SPANISH, Champagne is French - just because they both fizz doesn't make then comparable.I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!

Look again- it may not be to everyone's taste but the review was when it was on an earlier offer at £11.99. Then they said "only just justifies its offer price. The flavour of this wine is bigger and fuller than the Dubrince wine but there's not enough of a hike in quality to justify the extra £2." It's currently on offer at £2 less so maybe we can assume that it does now justify its price?0 -

Sainsbury's have this on offer at £13.99 at the moment. It does normally sell for £27.99 though.0 -

Actually, there is minimal difference between the two. Officially, true Champagne must be made in the champagne region in order to possess that name - otherwise it is just French fizz.
Cava is usually made in exactly the same way - and can even use the same grapes.
The difference between champagne and cava is snobbery and priceLiving with Lupus is like juggling with butterflies0 -
I agree, a good Cava is better than a poor Champagne. NEVER EVER buy expensive Bollinger/Veuve Clicquot etc. go for the smaller whine makers (you can recognise the best quality Champagne by 2 small capital letters on the bottom of the label).....Go for the letter RM...Recoltant Manipulateur....This means the Champagne hosue collects the grapes and also make the whine. Check the letters on the big labels....it reads NP as in Negotiant Manipulateur..Negotiant means they buy the grapes or even the whine before mixing it under their own label.0
