Tools for removing excess moulting hair from shorthaired cats?

Being used to Persians with long flowing coats I'm not to clued up on brushes for short dense coats.

My two (mainly cream) exotics, moult like labradors. The hair is fairly similar too. Its short & dense & thick & comes out when you stroke (George much more so, than Charlie). I guess its the winter coat coming out.

I have a groomit (like a furminator, but with a comb too) & a slicker brush.

Is there anything better for getting loose hair out?

    They are quite small.

I was hoping someone would say those rubber grooming mitts are something similar (something they like being brushed with).

    Hiya

I have a British shorthair and she is worse to groom than my persians ever were lol , she moults heavily and it is fine horrible hair the weird thing i have found was a rubber band lol by accident:o i rubbed her with a large one and omg there was loads of fur attached to it.....i went out and tried a rubber grooming mitt type thingy which didn't work as well so have resolved myself to a stiff bristle brush but to be honest it is rubbish......i am thinking of making a rubber band type glove lol to groom her with as i am sick of picking her up and being covered in hairs as she is a blue cream and very pale.

Have you tried a Zoom Groom? It's a bit like those mitt things but has much bigger teeth and is harder. My cats nearly pass out with pleasure when I produce it and it does remove quite a lot of hair. Don't tell my kitties but the Zoom Groom I bought for them is a dog's one. Their slicker comb is big dog sized too - it was 20p in Sainsbury's on the reduced items shelf. They all love that too, so it's Zoom Groom in one hand and big slicker comb in the other.

I have a Bengal. I use a rubber glove to stroke his fur backwards, this lifts the loose hair and then I rub him down with a Chamois leather to leave him feeling soft. Bengals don't shed much hair so i'm not sure if it will work on your puddy cat.

Try a rubber glove the static will hopefully lift the loose hair.
