I would stick an advert in the local paper, auto trader etc. Maybe even call a car dealer from the paper if you need a quick sale.

webuyanycar.com or any other sort of quick sell website will give you a price but when they see the car they will knock money off for this and that so you end up less than they originally quoted you ( which is less than you would get selling privately anyway). Depends how desperate you are to sell and how long you can wait?

Def agree with getting it MOT'ed - gives the buyer a bit of confidence in the car. If it doesn't have one, as already said people will be worried that it will cost a fortune to get the car through one.

Well what if it was sold to a used car place, I mean they must sort MOTS etc out? Sorry the only reason I ask is because I have ac ar lying around doing nothing and I sorta need the money. I am happy to advertise it but how much do I ask for it? Its a 1996 little white ford fiesta, in good enough nick

Put it at the side of the road with a for sale sign in the window. Put it up for £275 ono and let them knock you down to £250.

If it's got tax and mot then put an advert in the windows, and leave it in a prominent position. If you feel it's a shed and don't want the hassle, sell it to the website, or try somewhere like Ebay. A new MOT will cost you +/- £40 assuming there's nothing at all wrong with it (you'll be lucky) but is a huge plus point on a car of this sort of value.

What's the issue with selling to the website? Is that a firm offer? Do you need to deliver it to somewhere awkard to receive that offer?
  • not sure if you get this paper its called adtrader and freeads you can post free adds on there and it goes on there website and in the paper.

You can check current prices in Glasses Guide, but personally I find it easier to check the ads on somewhere like the auto trader website. You can look for cars similar to your own and see how much other people are asking for them.

I feel (again just my personal opinion) you will get a better price selling privately than you will if you sell to a used car place - remember they have to sell it on at a profit so they won't want to pay you the market value, or there will be no room left for their profit.

I put our car with 1 month MOT and 1 month Tax on Ebay motors, a thre day listing, and got £140 for it.
I paid £200 for it when i bought it!
I listed it as spare or repairs and got a cash sale so very happy.

Its worth looking at Ebay motor as many mechanics etc are looking for car to do up or split and sll as well as people who need a cheaper car.

    Good luck

I did list it on ebay, but it didn't sell. Starting to think I should get the MOT done and put it at the side ofthe road
