Major Xbox 360 Annoyance..

Hi all,
So here's my story...
for the last couple of years I have used my Xbox 360 as a Media Centre Extender for my Vista Ultimate PC. Recently I rebuilt the PC onto a new motherboard and processor so I could increase the RAM past what the old setup could handle. Since doing this, I haven't been able to configure the two machines to work together again!
I use manually configured IP addresses to avoid conflicts and have never had this issue before. When the Xbox is configured to its static IP, I get an error in the MCE setup on the Xbox saying "Your console didn't obtain an IP address from your DHCP server.... etc. etc." but why would it? BTW my Xbox Live connection works fine so it's not the network..
I am able to see the Xbox on the computer and they are configured to share media, I also have a Windows Home Server that has connected to the Xbox with no trouble at all and can share medai with it. As soon as I try to connect the Vista Media Centre though, all I get is errors!
Anyone had/fixed similar?
Sorry for the long post or if there's vital info missing, but I've been working on this for the past 4 hours and my brain is fried
I thought it may have been my firewall blocking it, but uninstalling it made no difference.
TIA!

Ah well, I guess I'll have to start again then...The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
