Smell of rat in the house!

Hi, still not sure this is the right place to put my question, but is connected with housing.
I had this winter a massive invasion of rats in my kitchen and after long battle( poison, sticky sheets) seems got rid of them.
The problem is that there is horrible smell now in the kitchen( like rat dropping smell or maybe dead one somewere)
How can i get rid of that. I tryed bleach and wash everywere, putting nice aromatherapy candles to burn, but it does not help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

If it's a dead rat, the smell will go once "nature takes it course".

  • A dead rat will take approx. two weeks to decompose. The smell will continue for this duration, unless you are able to remove the copse.

The smell is similar to boiled cabbage or brussel sprouts.

Try to identify which area the smell is coming from, are there air vents. A plug in freshener, or daily use of air spray will be required to minimise the aroma.

Otherwise as already stated you just have to wait till the copse rots and bones remain.

Get a cat. Or alternatively let a neighbour's cat come into your house every now and again. The smell of the cat will stop any rats or mice ever coming back again
