Home Insurance for FTB

:pWe are exchanging contracts on Monday for our first house, and moving in on the 30th.
Our solicitor has recomended that we set up home and contents insurance from that date (this seems to be the norm - as the house is now yours in english law).
When ringing Swinton for a quote, I asked for the paperwork to be sent to my current house (mum and dads!). They then said that they wouldn't insure the house as it will not be occupied by us for the following 2 weeks....
We are confused... what are we supposed to do?
Thanks in advance.

I'll be in the same situation shortly. I just went with my mortgage lender for the home insurance (not the cheapest, but I'll shop around when it comes to renewal) to avoid this sort of hassle. I hope it works:rotfl:.0
