Postage for heavy books on ebay
INSPIRED
I want to list some heavy educational books on ebay but the £2.75 postage restriction is not going to come anywhere near the actual postage cost.
Reading the rules about the postage resctrictions, I saw something about using "courier - heavy or bulky items" but can not find that option anywhere on Turbo Lister.
Can anyone help? Please?

I sell all my textbooks on play.com, have a search for the books and have a look how much he used ones go for etc. I found that books didnt sell for much on eBay whereas on play.com they went within a week0

I don't know where iti is on turbo lister so you might be better off listing direct on ebay. There you have the option just above the p and p to have flat cost (capped at £2.75) courier or no postage - local pick up only. It then says "specify your courier options in your item description"
However if using courier make sure before you list that this is going to be possible, check the actual prices before you add it to your auction and remember you may run into problems with UK not including Highlands and NI and not being able to block those bidders. You can't choose to list courier and then use RM as you'll just get buyers reporting you for trying to get round the rules.
Also remember that with couriers going to cost you approx £7-£8 (depending on who you use) that this is going to make your text books look very expensive compared to others and you may well price yourself out of the market.
Have you checked your books on Playtrade (as has been suggested) and also Amazon and for comparison on completed listings on ebay?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. why not just start the bidding at a price that will cover the postage?
I've been doing this with DVD's and the heavier book's I've been selling since the postage limitations have come in.
sales have dropped off a little as expected but they are still selling an I'm not making a loss (just a bit less profit than before)0 -

i always find with text books on ebay that they dont go for that much even when ive put starting at say 12 with free postage.
The problem with books is they can be heavy to post and i like to send all my items recorded delivery on ebay cause of paypal whereas on play i just send standard post as i find people more trusting on play, although no one ever leaves feedback lol
I find playtrade a brilliant place to trade in games and books.0 -

Thank you. The courier option does not appear to be on Turbo Lister.
I have looked on Playtrade and Amazon and may have to use them - these are Law text books and weigh a ton!0 -
If they are law books then can I please suggest you get rid of them quickly. That is one branch of academia where old books become worthless very quickly, sell them now while they are current.
I had some listed for a friend, bought at £80+ from that shop in London in Chancery lane, selling second had a few months later at £40+ and now just over a year later there is a new edition out and my copies have fallen to almost 2 million in the rankings and start at £5
Compare that to History, archeology and the Classics where my sons still buy and sell text books from the 70s at prices that make my hair curl.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The price of new Law text books is criminal!! Most of these have never been opened (never mind read) and owner received a 1st........then decided to become a hippy.
I either sell them or turn them into doorstops. Many have been bought by buyers in EU but not sure they will want "Criminal Practice" at 2350g.0 -

Books have a £2.75 cap, DVDs must be offered with no additional charge for postage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
