Just had a new battery fitted and can't find the radio code. Is there any way round this or do I have carry on searching for the bit of paper with it written on which is somewhere in the house?

What stereo is it? What vehicle? I can get you a code if it is of certain makes.

You can get this unlocked (who will charge) from some car radio shops. You could also try going back to the car dealer (but this will be expensive).

Many years ago I had a similar problem, to my surprise I was told to phone up the dealer who first sold the car from new, they had the code & gave it to me over the phone, just a thought, Hope this helps...

What is the serial number? (It'll be something along the lines of BP****X*******)

The serial number is normally engraved / stamped into the side of the radio and sometimes shown on a label.
Most start with BP The part number will always start with 7 6xx xxx xxx

Actually the first 3 numbers (6xx) are radio the model number.

Thanks everyone. While following up Weymouth Man's suggestion to phone the garage that originally sold the car I came across the code written in the service book by the pre supply checklist so all is now well.
