Help - Trying to Import itunes backup disc in Vista

Just got a new PC today and created my itunes backup DVD's the other day. Just downloaded itunes and inserted the first DVD as itunes stated, and I get nothing
Bit of digging and it appears there is a problem with Vista whereby the disc may not be recognised if (1) an audio device is disabled or (b) Windows Media Player is already running
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939052
When I close itunes, a normal will play (it won't when itunes is open). When I open itunes it gives me the following message "iTunes has detected a problem with our audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly"
Anyone got an idea of what I need to do?
UPDATE
Have managed to upload my backup discs. Basically by trial and error. In the end put the DVD in the drive, and THEN started up itunes, which although still gives the "itunes has detected a problem with audio......." message recognised a disc in the driver and requests me to click ok to import the music. Therefore sort of answered by my own question regarding itunes. However would still appreciate any help to sort out the audio config error messages
