Friend's daughter going to Camp America - what should I get her?

She already has really good comprehensive travel insurance and has paid extra for making sure she is covered for doing different types of activities etc.

Her dad is a freelance photographer so she has had a camera since she was a wee girl, lol. She now has a few.

Her uncle got her a good backpack/rucksack type thing and also an over the shoulder handbag type thing that has loads of different compartments. Think this is for her going on the plane etc so that she has somewhere safe to keep her passport/tickets etc.

The USA sim seems a really good idea. Do you know where and how I would go about getting something like that and would you need a certain of mobile or anything for that to work?

I like the idea of a diary/journal so that she can record her time there.

Do you have an address for the camp shes at? When my sister did it years ago we sent her a few packages (she was ther about 8 weeks I think) with magazines she liked, local papers (so she could follow the footie!) etc. If she gets time away from the camp a starbucks card with money loaded on (we loaded up a card with £50 before we went to NY a couple of years ago and it really saved us dipping into spending money)

Is she taking a DS/PSP etc? a game for it so she doesn't get bored of the same one or two.

If she's plannin on travelling around afterwards, then a guide to the USA would be helpful...I traveled round for a few months 4 years ago, and am going back this summer to work (have a visa). She'll absolutely love it - people are very friendly.

I have had a few friends who have done camp america and I have a few friends who live in the USA full time. Things like a photo collage of friends and family are always good, stuff that reminds them of home for example Im from Liverpool my friends are from Liverpool so Liverpool FC shirt, Liverpool FC flag, Scarf etc to decorate around the bed area, A few friends took postcards of where they live so they could show the children at the camp their life back home so postcards of things like the liver buildings the mersey etc
My friends children who live in the USA love UK choc so Ive just shipped some Thorntons choc (personalised Easter eggs) and cadburys biscuits over there as well as England shirts for them both, teabags such as pg tips are ridiculously expensive over there.

Im hoping to fly out to the USA for a month long trip and I have a list of things to bring over including PG Tips, Tetley Tea, Crunchies, Wispas, Heinz tomato Sauce and other things that they say just arent the same in the USA.

How about a new SD card for her camera if its a digi cam so shell have plenty of memory should she need extra - can be picked up fairly cheaply as well.
I think its onetel (not sure ill check) who sell phone cards that can be used inthe USA to ring the UK.

A diary or Journal or even a scrap book to record stuff in would be really useful and not take up much space.

Maybe a little care package of sunscreen, aftersun, mosquito spray, lip balm, mascara, showergel, razor with the foam around the blade, a travel adapter, a toothbrush, wet wipes, stick deodorant, flipflops, hair brush, hair elastics, etc in it that covers the essential things she might forget or lose
