Hi
My friend's daughter (she is 24) is going to Camp America and then will be travelling around America.
I am just at a loss as to what kind of gift to get her.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Travel insurance with good medical cover.
USA Sim for dialling home0 -
People bring presents back from holidays; not have them bought for them before they go!
Having said that, how about a Rough Guide/Lonely Planet for the area she's going to?0 -
A decent backpack? Camera?0

Thank you to everyone so far.
She already has really good comprehensive travel insurance and has paid extra for making sure she is covered for doing different types of activities etc.
Her dad is a freelance photographer so she has had a camera since she was a wee girl, lol. She now has a few.
Her uncle got her a good backpack/rucksack type thing and also an over the shoulder handbag type thing that has loads of different compartments. Think this is for her going on the plane etc so that she has somewhere safe to keep her passport/tickets etc.
The USA sim seems a really good idea. Do you know where and how I would go about getting something like that and would you need a certain of mobile or anything for that to work?
Many thanks again0 -

with items one might want in an emergency or when missing home ...

Definitely not chocolate! It'll melt and make a real mess. I did Au Pair in America when I was 19. Some of the things I missed were so silly, especially baked beans! Can I suggest that you get her a token gift for now and then send british magazines once a week while she is away? It'll help her feel like people care for her. We (the au pairs) used to call them care packages and we absolutely lived for them!0

This may sound nuts but a hammock a good light easy to hang hammock that way if she ever gets caught out she has a bed for the night(iv been in sudden downpours that washed tents away:embarasse) it also doubles as a safe keep for food and a seat in the daytime and several emergency uses i wont scare you with!slowly going nuts at the world:T0
