Been looking for one for a while around the £100 - £150 mark, not well up on this stuff, looks ok to me but any opinions - doesn't mention a brand but I know ALDI do Medion and it's 3 year guarantee.

We purchased a very similar one ( probably the one before they bought this one out ) from Aldi around 2 years ago for £69. It has been a great buy. Nice and compact and light and easy to use. Only downside not very good for using in the dark but other than that 2 years on and its still fab.0

If you want to research this camera the model is actually a rebrand of a Jazz HDV 178.
There is a thread about it on steves digicams unfortunately it's mostly in pigeon english, but there are samples etc which might help you make your mind up. The manufacturer's website is here http://www.jazzcameras.com/0 -
i think it'll be the Traveler brand.0

stupid question probably but how does it record?
Straight onto it's hard drive? How much recording time approx do you think there will be?
doh! sorry- just seen, it supports 8gb memory cards - any ideas where the cheapest place for these is?"Sumptus censum ne superet"
Mental blocks are just hurdles to overcome in life.
Yeah..whatever :rolleyes:0 -
Ebuyer are doing 8gb sd cards for £10.990

It looks exactly the same one as I bought for the missus just before Christmas, except then it came with a 1GB SD card (I ended up getting a 4GB card for it, which I think gives a couple of hours recording time).
We're chuffed with it, but as I explained at the time, it's £60, so the term "HD" needs to be taken with a pinch of salt! The lack of an optical zoom is probably the biggest limitation;

Anyway, it's still going strong, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Looks very much like the one DH bought a couple of weeks ago. It films darker than our other camcorder I noticed but worth it for the money. Slim enough to slip into a pocket and take out and about.0

Wow, information overload, having dug a bit deeper and followed some of the great links and valuable info in this thread it makes me wonder whether it's worth another £45 for the Toshiba Camelio HD pro at £105 inc delivery for the Toshiba brand, optical zoom and a remote control.

Of course it's always subjective for what started as a cheap and cheerful recorder, as you can always keep chipping away and adding another few quid here and a few quid there, it's where you draw the financial line I suppose - tempted with the Tosh though I think.0 -
Well forget about the Toshiba brand loyalty - they only seem to rebrand other people's camcorders at the moment.
I believe that the Camileo HD Pro is really an Aiptek Z500. Do some searches on this to get some more reviews - again stevesdigicams is a good place to look for opinions.0
