Ok thanks for the advice folks - its going back on Monday. It was a genuine mistake and I could do without the agro if they find out and its stashed in my garage.

No time limitation on criminal acts.

This isn't the same as you are doing nothing and not intending to steal.

Interesting - as I understood it, if you intentionally try to benefit from the error of others it is defined as theft, and after 6 years they lose the right to claim (through some legislation that I am ignorant of), but that still doesn't seem to make the items your property?

Fairly academic anyway - you would have to keep them unused in their original packaging for 6 years, which would be a bit pointless with most current electronic gadgets...
