Own Home No deposit on exchange problem

Hello
I have seen alot of concerned people on here asking about having no deposit on exchange with ownhome. Well I have been and spoken to my solicitor today and they said that this is not a problem in the slightest. They said they would do the exchange 10 days before completion and the funds would be ready on completion. He said as long as you make them aware from the start that there will be no problems at all.
I hope that sets a few minds at ease.

This isn't clear to us. We're doing the OwnHome scheme and are getting hastle from our Vendor to know how much deposit we are putting in on exchange. They plan to use this as their deposit on their flat (as part of the chain).
Do we just not put a deposit in?0
