EMA/Adult Learning Grant ?

Hi
My daughter is just comepeting her A levels - she wants to go on to do graphic design but has been advised to do a years foundation course first before uni. She will be entitled to EMA ( at £10 a week) from September- but turns 19 in November. The EMA helpline told me that wqhen she turns 19 she will have to apply for the Adult Learning grant- and that she will be eligible for this from this point onwards. However just checked the ALG site and it says it has to be a first full level 3 qualification. If she gets her A levelks then this won't be the case. Is there any other funding that can be applied for?
Thanks Julie

Doing a Foundation Art course can be difficult with the funding, as you're finding out. If finances are a problem, there will be degree courses that offer the foundation year as year 0 of the degree course, meaning that she would be able to get normal HE funding for it.
