anti virus help req please.

hi, been having trouble while trying to get updates on my mcafee internet sec suite 8.0 error mess comes up saying i have older version of a/virus + i was advised to remove old version then d/load newer version but when i do this error mess still comes up so i removed the mcafee completly from pc +d/loaded avast4.8 a/virus now when i check avast it says instant messaging, internet mail,network shield, is running on my comp but outlook/exchange is waiting for subsystem to start im not sure what the subsystem is but when it does start does that mean pc is totally protected or do i still need to use mcafee for firewall, privacy service, + spamkiller, to have full pc protection cheers john
