New to Credit

My partner has never had a credit card, he's had one small provident loan a few years ago which he paid back with no changes and on time. Now I am hoping to put him on my mortgage next year but his credit history might be an issue - as in not enough credit history!

We have been looking at credit cards and have noticed that they show that some will be easier to get than others... And we don't want to have rejected applications on his credit history spoiling it!

Would the simplist option be to just go for a High Interest Card as we know he will definatly be accepted or can anyone suggest a card we go for?

Vanquis though as said it is a high interest card or his own bank.

Also catalogues like littlewoods and a mobile phone contract will do wonders for him.

Also in my expirence an overdraft on a current account like at halifax reports to the CRA's which will help boost his Credit report.
  • Thanks for the info, he has a mobile on contract which will help. Suppose our best bet is to actually check his report.

    Thanks
