If you made the transaction through ebay then you are able to start a claim against the seller for supplying you with fake goods and get your money back through paypal. Paypal will need evidence of them being fake which you have from the customs people. Get that Paypal claim in quickly though as I think there may be a time limit.

£2000 is too much to be covered by paypal unfortunately, although some of it will be able to be chargebacked (sorry, I don't think that is a word!)

Hello there sorry for the hassle that you have had.

Its quite straigh forward the info you advised above your bank can issue a chargeback based on these circumstances.

    You bought goods
you did not recieve those goods.
regardless of the customs issue, they have not been recieved.
All you need to do is provide info that you have tried to resolve with merchant themselves. copy the letter from customs also. send bank copy of your invoice for good measure if you got mastercard with your bank cb reason code 4855.
    ( dunno about visa)

hope u get sorted shouldnt take too long when your bank have the required documentation

The problem is that the OP used his card to pay Paypal for a service (transferring money to the seller). This transaction has been completed successfully and therefore not an issue from the banks point of view.

The problem is now an issue for Paypal, and provided the OP gives all the document he has mentioned he has, it wont be am issue getting money back.
