more money to spend

we have been in this house 25 years and we have double glazing and its really draufhty and we can hear all that goes on outside, does double glazing have a sell by date

    I wouldn't say it 'has a sell by date' but the newer stuff is definatly better at insulating both heat and sound than older products.
    the design of the profile is always being updated and the sealed units get thicker, have special coatings and/or are filled with 'magic' gasses.

    But in your case, i would guess that the friction hinges are worn, which means the opener isn't pulled tight against the seal, or the actual seal is flattend or damaged.
