can you advertise a business with a blog?

or should i go for a website . i see some blogs seem to have somethingblog.com does this mean they get the site for free including domain name ? thanks for any help.

Why would it be free?

A blog is software that runs on a website. It IS a website. It'd be fine to use the blog to advertise the business instead of just plain old static pages. Easy to update too.

Due to the low cost of domains and hosting, i would only consider a .co.uk or a .com on paid hosting for any business use.
Free domains (you.theirdomain.com) with sponsored links on your pages and poor support will not impress clients at all.

If you have free hosting without ads, then great, use a blog.
I recommend Wordpress (vast array of free templates/add ons). Though for £3-£4 per year I would still prefer a .co.uk, than a free sub domain for a business site

So if you are going to think of how to advertise a business, make sure you find ways that will help you get the best exposure and make it easy for you to advertise. If you can find an inexpensive way to advertise a business online, then make sure you can get the best results for your money.
