Sky's sneaky increase

My Sky subscription was £40 per month when the VAT Rate was 17.5% and when the VAT Rate was reduced to 15% on the 1.12.08 they reduced my subscription by 50p. to £39.50 per month. However, according to my maths. the reduction should have been 85p. I raised this with Sky and they confirmed that my figures were correct and they had in fact made a 50p. reduction across the board irrespective of the amount that subscribers were paying. Again according to my maths. this means that any subscriber who was paying more than £23 per month prior to the VAT Rate reduction is now paying more than they should be. I accept that this is only 35p. per month in my case but multiplied by the number of subscribers that Sky have this must represent a substantial increase in their revenue. Apparently there is nothing we can do but accept it.
