Print spooler message

Hi,
I've tried researching this problem and it has been discussed on here but nothing has solved my problem. Everytime I try to add a printer it comes up with the message 'A print spooler service is not running' etc.
I have done everything that has been advised on most of the forums I have searched and still nothing.
So now I am thinking that I might have to reload all my system software again to fix it. So the question is, has anyone got any advice on making this an easier job as I don't want to have to redownload ALL my bits of software again, such as iTunes and similar?
I have backed up all my documents onto an external harddrive.
Thanks inadvance!!

have you tried starting the print spooler service?
press the windows key + r > type services.msc in the Run dialogue box and press enter > look down the list for print spooler > right click print spooler > properties > for startup type, make sure it is set to automatic > click the start button (underneath startup type) > apply > ok.0 -

Hi,
Yes I have done that and I get the same message.
I asked a Dell engineer if he could give me a tip (as he was round to fix some hardware) and he suggested reloading the system software.
Thanks for the tip!0 -
