hairstuffdirect.co.uk AVOID!!!

Hiya

this is my first post but felt it beneficial... My mum bought SCP straighteners from hairstufffdirect.co.uk before Christmas for £60. These broke within a couple of months and were sent back. After about a month she contacted the company to be told they are going through liquidation so couldnt replace or refund. She's since spoke to the liquidation company who said they sourced a supplier that were supplying inferior products hence the fact they've broke (glad they just broke than electrocute or burn my house down!!) and pretty much she wont get anything from them..

The annoying part comes now... they are still trading UNDER THE SAME NAME!! She called and they are still taking orders etc. trading standards have advised her to send a letter asking for replacements and they are looking into the fact they are still trading under the same name.

There isnt anything on the net about this company going bust so please... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

thanks
Emma

  • Thanks for posting this. I was not aware that they were in administration, might explain a few things.
I originally purchased a pair of SCP straighteners in April last year. As a woman with very thick wavy hair it can be difficult to find reasonably priced straighteners that actually work. I thought these were great, probably the best straighteners i have had (I've had lots)....while they worked that is.
In January this year they broke. The plate actually melted the plastic holding which was a bit worrying, but as they were still in warranty i figured no problemo! I e-mailed them and was told to return them with a simple covering letter explaining the fault and they would replace them asap. I should point out that Hairstuff do not understand the concept of asap or in a timely manner. I waited 5 weeks to recieve a replacement pair. I had to e-mail them numerous times during this 5 weeks to see what was happening and to get them to send them. Their customer service girl wasn't particularly helpful. Every e-mail begins with 'Apologies for the inconvenience' - stop apologising and just send them!
Anyway i FINALLY recieved a brand new pair and once again was very happy with them. Until about a month in when they broke again. No melting this time, just simply would not heat up when turned on. I contacted Hairstuff again and was told to complete the same procedure as before, send them back with a covering letter. I did this. 5 weeks ago and as yet i still have not recieved them. I am now e-mailing every couple of days. Last week i was told i would have them by the end of the week. HA! good job i didn't hold my breath!
Well that is pretty much my story but please let me stress. DO NOT USE THEM. Shoddy products, bad service, slow to replace (though i bet brand new customers don't have to wait weeks for their orders!).
    Rant over
