Help - has anyone heard of this company

Hi everyone,
Need help on something....posted an ad on Gumtree to sell my car, anyway i got a telephone call from a company call 1st Vehicle Limited. They want to sell my car for me (according to them they deal with finance companies) so are able to sell to buyers directly through them. However, i have to pay £50 (which is refundable) but this still sounds a bit fishy to me - maybe i'm just being suspicious . But it sounds too good to be true.

Whatever help i can get will be really fab - they're calling back.
Many thanks

    DON'T DO IT!
Steer well clear of companies who claim to be able to sell your car for you.

These have been on Watchdog etc a lot, and bascially all that happens is that you pay them the £50 and they disappear and that's it!

They don't have any buyers lined up at all.

    Hi,

If they are genuine, they surely they would take the money AFTER the car has been sold ... hmmmm ....

Just tear up a £50 note and flush it down your toilet.

Its a slightly more amusing way of getting rid of it.

You'll pay them the money up front, then never hear anything from them ever again. Stories they might tell you about having buyers in your area that are interested in your car, they are just that- stories.
Despite what they tell you, the fee will not be refundable unless the car has actually been sold to a buyer they have introduced.

  • When they call back tell you have a flying pig to sell too, and could they help you with that?
