Cheap/Free Web Content Management Software

I have created a web site for a local charity who will need to update the content on a regular basis. I have created the site using my copy of Dreamweaver, but am looking for an app that will just enable them to update without having to fork out £300+ for each copy.

Can anyone on here recommend anything relative cheap and easy to use as this is outside my knowledge area?

Thanks guys

Joomla or drupal for a start.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

I'd recommend Drupal, easy to use and plenty of places offer drupal hosting so you shouldn't have any problems there!

Joomla is excellent with a huge number of free addons and templates. Drupal is also good but not quite as friendly. I have converted my charity's main website to Joomla and feedback from the membership, who can now edit the site directly without need for any software other than a browser, is very positive.

If you want to play with a Joomla setup then checkout this download which will allow you to setup Joomla quickly and easily inside VirtualBox on your PC or Mac, so you can play on a local system without having to connect to a remote webserver. Very good for quick prototyping. Then when you have your website setup you can transfer it across to a live server using Joomlapack and its corresponding Kickstart application.
