No claims bonus is valid for two years (Three years with some Insurers) from the date it lapsed / was cancelled.
What most people do in your position is just alternate who is the policyholder every couple of years so that the no claims bonus never runs out.0 -
If it's only valid for 2 years, then you need to alternate every year.
I am assuming "we" are married.
If you are not married then you might have issues.
In general I think companies are happy to have different people as registered keeper and policy holder IF they are married.
If you aren't married then it gets difficult because you need to have an "insurable interest" in someone else's vehicle.
You might we do so, but in many cases if you aren't married then it will be a case of "computer says no".
In the case of bike insurance I've recently discovered that even being married is not good enough and we have had to change the registered keeper of one of our bikes.0
