Sometimes with the safe deposit cash machine they run out of paper so they dont give you a receipt i always make sure i get a mini statement printed out from the cash machine to check its all gone in all right. i have only ever used the deposit box once and when i found out it doesnt go in until the end of the day when they count up i was devastated because who knows if they miscount the number or put it into the wrong account. never again, now i just q up even if its busy or just use the quick cash machine. Quicker is not always better for me.0

Not exactly the same problem, but in the "old days" DD were all new stuff. So a few years ago I used a "quick drop box" to pay our mortgage cheque in. Next thing we know a s****y letter arrives a few days later, telling us we were behind with our payments. Bearing in mind we had paid by this method previously for 17 years(!) with no problem we were a bit miffed to put it politely. Anyway, the next month we remortgaged with Nationwide on DD and I will never, ever use those so-called convenient boxes. You have no proof what so ever what you have posted.
And you can be damn sure the bank/building society will deny everything to the bitter end

Hi Bill, did they sort it out for you though in the end?0 -
Good news at last, I hope! The local director phoned me back, he spoke to the bank manager and said that a £700 refund should be in my account by Monday :j
He also said that she shouldn't have taken so long to authorise this, as there was enough evidence to show that I was probably being truthful (I had taken in a copy of a withdrawal slip for £700 from my building society, made 5 mins before I deposited it with them)
He also said that she had completed all the investigations that were relevant to me, and although they would still be investigating, I would get my money back.
An hour later the manager phoned me as well, she said the same thing, but questioned the fact that I had spoken to the local director. I told her that I hadn't been happy with the responses that she had given me.
Well, fingers crossed, I'll let you know on Monday.
At least it's taught me a valuable lesson... Be patient and queue up, and always get a reciept!0
