Ebay - how many days acceptable to wait for payment

Hi there,

I have started selling on ebay, just little bits and pieces for some extra cash. People have usually been paying the day the bid ends or at latest next day.

I have now been waiting nearly 5 days for payment for something, how much longer should I wait before contacting the buyer?

I have checked the buyers feedback and it is very good so may just be some sort of over sight or something.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Buyers have 7 days to pay before you can open a non paying dispute. On day 5 though a polite email asking whether they need any further assistance with payment methods would be acceptable.

I asusme you sent an invoice when auction ended, you can even resend that if you prefer.

Do you have paypal only on your auctions? if not the buyer may be one of the few who still use cheques or postal orders and they can take well over a week to arrive.

If you only have paypal offered then it is unlikely buyer is using a different payment method, even where other options are offered most people use paypal.

I'd send an invoice again with a polite little note in the bit where you can add some text to them.

If it comes down to having to open a none paying bidder I'd send them another message a day before you do with a polite warning that they have 24hr before that will be started. They still have 8 days after to pay and sort it in the dispute but always pays to be civil.

I must admit that I have found just over the Easter hols people are a bit later in paying than normal so maybe they are away? As above though, send a polite message and after seven days then decide what to do!!!
