    thanks for the comments guys

The bass problem itself is a lack of "punch" .... not sure on the correct hi fi terminology but hopefully you will understand what i mean. My main set up has a more powerful amp with a tannoy sub connected and there is no such problem.

i did have my speakers on stands but due to my tribe of little people i now keep them out of harms way so they are now on top of a free standing unit....i appreciate this may be the source of my bass problem...has anyone ever used wall mountings for speakers and are they any good?

I don't think wall mounts will solve your problem and I don't think your setup as described is conducive to good bass reproduction. (Nor is the presence of little people). I suspect a sub may be the most effective compromise for your situation. I don't think spending more on speakers (or anything else) will help if you can't mount and position them properly.

When you say the speakers are on top of a unit, they are at approximately ear height for your listening position I hope?

yes, speakers at ear height when sat down, approx 3m apart and toed in.

im really happy with my main room set up its just a shame my study doubles up as a kids games console room which means things need to be kept out of the toddlers reach.
