Play.com charged my card even if I didnt buy anything!

I recently went Bankrupt and opened a brand new Barclays account which came with a Visa Debit card.

I only shop on iTunes and Play so thought it would be a great idea to update card details. Logging onto my new account I see that I am 2.58 overdrawn even though I have not used the card anywhere.

Panic stricken I look to iTunes and can see no payments taken there, I quickly deleted my card details (which Apple let you do).

I logged into Play.com and "looked at my card details" on there and about an hour later I logged back into my bank to see another pound taken from the account - now I was fuming and tried to delete my bank details from Play but couldn't so put back the old account card number.

Logging into my old bank I see a pound missing from there too!

Now I dont mind sites using secrity checks but they should tell you clearly that they are doing it! Play does hint at it in lengthy conditions but this really should be mentiond right there on the page where you are entering financial information.

Issue is now that I am overdrawn and will be charged for it! I am going to phone them tomorrow to verify if they did charge my card, if they did I want to know if I get that money back and then I will contact my bank.

i think that even the money shows as overdrawn on your account it technically is not. when you enter card details they test the account to see wether it is live or not. so even though your account may shown as overdraft online it is not.

if you call your bank they will confirm this.

Thanks Kill Bill I am going into the branch today so will double check.
