If you close your a/c for 3 working days, you then qualify as a "New customer" and get a new "years" bonus

I'm sure many people would appreciate if you could confirm where your information about this is from.

Edit: I see D1zzy seems to have confirmed this but I'd be interested to hear more about the process.

I rang up - closed the account and then I think immediately (but may have been a couple of days) opened a new one . My customer number stayed the same - the support team were very helpful and I just did what they advised

Previous cut was due to the 5th Feb BOE cut to 1% according to a letter I had. This one is obviously because of the most recent on 5th March to 0.5%. No doubt I shall get another letter about this one in a couple weeks. I had it confirmed on the phone today what my rate is now including bonus - 2.67% gross.
Y'know, when I rang today to get the new rate confirmed, I asked why could the rate for the account not be available on screen when logged in. Answer:they would have to manually add it to everyone's account.

Well I dunno, if the ING bloke was able to tell me what my opening bonus was/is and the total rate now, surely this is data could be fed to people once online and logged on even if it is different for many different account holders. MSE's campaign refers to this very issue with Lib Dem's Vince Cable's EDM.

No point me going on to ING's CS operator I suppose, but worth a mention. Needs to come with more weight behind it, which hopefully that campagn will achieve.
