A bit of advice when approached by another supplier
Options
You know the drill, they come to your house, throw figures at you
"oh Mrs Smith, how much do you pay at the moment for gas and electric?"
"oh 40 pounds for gas and 40 pounds for electric per month"
"really?! well we can do your gas/elec for £20 each, how does that sound"
"oh brilliant, ill sign up now then"
Now, in theory they can do that but once it comes to the bill it's nowhere near enough to what you should be paying but hey Mr Salesman got his commision so he doesn't give a flying fig.
Just thought I'd warn you oh and don't EVER sign anything, for example, older customers will be told to sign something just to show they have spoken to them about the offer, so you sign and BAM you get a letter from your current supplier saying "sorry you are leaving", I've had countless calls from elderly people, some in tears who have had this done by them.

A salesman cannot tell how much you are paying just by looking at the meter.
If they are not your current supplier they have no right to access your meter.
(the only people who should be allowed to see your meter are the meter readers sent on behalf of your supplier)
If he asks to look at your bill make sure he does not write down the M PAN or the MPRS number ( they are always on your bills) As this is the way they will change your supply to their company.
