Windows media player ?

Sorry if this is not the right place, but i just wondered if anyone could help me,

When i put a cd into my drive, the windows media player thing pops up, but when the music starts to play its all fuzzy and sounds dreadful, its not just one cd it happens with them all. it hasn't alway been like this, all seemed to be fine before, its just a recent thing.

any advice please, thanks in advance :-*

  • Check that the volume control for the CD on the 'mixer panel' or whatever your soundcard has is not right up - that can cause distortion.

May also be worth cleaning the CD player itself if it has been heavily used in the past, or used in a dusty/smoky environment.

I assume the fuzziness/distortion happens on more than one disc???

    Hiya LincsLad,

checked the volume etc as suggested, thats ok, still not right, yes it is with every cd, so i think the next solution is to clean it, thanks for your advice :-*
