If she leaves now your CTC would end immediately as she is over 16. If she registers with connexions (or similar careers service for your area) you will qualify for 20 additional weeks of CTC.

I really would urge you to get her into the school to talk about what's going wrong there and try to get her to tuff it out. My experience amongst friends and their children is that if they walk away from school like this, even if they do go to college in September it is so much easier for them to give up easily and walk away from there as well. There has to be a reason she is so unhappy there and it is better to sort that-easier said than done,I know. When my DD was having probs I got her into the adolescent councelling scheme via social services, and it helped enormously-she learned to control a pretty severe eating disorder and went on to get straight A's at A level and is now at Uni studying english and spanish law. I know in my heart that I couldn't have got her through the tuff times on my own but she is now strong and feels able to cope with almost anything-to the point she now does support for others having similar problems. It's not just about the finances as I'm sure you are aware-a lot of it is about instilling in adolescents that they need to sort a problem out and not walk away from it. I really hope it works out for you all.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
