Is there any kind of insurance we can sign up for if we are tempted (we're only human) to buy goods from say China or wherever and have to transfer cash to a seller electronically,( Paypal and credit cards not accepted!!) and the seller disappears?
How many of us have been stung in this way? and by whom? come on own up - at least our negative experience can have a positive outcome in the fight against internet criminals. Dave.

Any type of insurance? Yes - don't buy from them. You can be sure that the money you haven't paid them will never disappear and instead you can use a UK seller and put some money into OUR economy...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I get emails from lots of people from China offering me all sorts. Some of it sounds good but i wouldn't pass a penny over as i know i would be asking for trouble. It's the same with some people that contact you on Gumtree when you are selling something. They word their email 'Is the item still for sale?' They use an English name but if i wanted to buy for example a Mobile from someone i wouldn't ask 'Is the item still for sale?'
If you reply with yes then you get a reply asking you to post it to Nigeria and offer you £50 over th easking price and pay the postage.
The Golden rule is never buy or sell anything to anywhere that would need you to have a Passport to go there and if it's in the UK try and sell in your local area if poss10 -
I don't mind being publically piloried. My main object is to increase public awareness of internet criminals - they can exist in this country as elsewhere. What can we do about it?
Cheers. Dave.0 -
I don't think you can stop naive people being taken in , there are enough warnings everywhere about how to stay safe if people choose to ignore that what else can you do? If savvy people don't buy then maybe we can just put them out of their scamming business anyway if they stop getting any suckers as victims.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ah, just another racist. Right now, I wouldn't sell anything to people in the UK because the UK's credit worthiness as a whole is rather unworthy. Desperate times, desperate people - I'd argue that you were just as likely to be scammed by a Brit right now.
But hey, at least you won't be scammed by Johnny Foreigner, but rather John Bull down the pub. He's British, after all. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Yeah Sadiet is just being racist, Should be banned. =P0

I think you are being unfair, trying to brand someone a racist, we are a multi-racial community in the uk, no-one has suggested not buying or selling to a non-uk national. The suggestion as I read it is not to send money or goods without being able to track where they have gone. This is sound advice, whether in the uk or overseas.0

What a stupid post. Fact - most scam emails originate from outside of the UK. FACT.
Is observing the fact racist? I flipping well hope not!
The funniest thing is the hypocrisy in this post "I wouldn't sell anything to people in the UK..."
THIS IS THE UK. If you don't like, please leave. Oh, and I am not a racist - I happen to love my country and can't stand people slagging it off.0 -

Take no notice - pot and kettle spring to mind when readin PBS's post. He/she is one of the most racist people on here with constant rants about the UK and the British.0
