Receiving money through Paypal.

Hello all.

I sold my 2nd item on eBay today, and have just received an email, from what appears to be the buyer's email address (@ntlworld.com).

The contents of the email however have Paypal on the top, saying payment has been received. But, it says to accept this payment I need to upgrade my account to a Premier or Business one.

Is this normal? On the first item I sold, I never received an email like this, and wasn't asked to upgrade my account.

To sell on ebay you need a premier account, you probably escaped the first time as you are allowed one or two payments before you trigger the need to upgrade.

Once you have upgraded the payment will appear in your account, however that and all future payments will attract the paypal fees that we all moan about on here.

How do I go about upgrading, is it automatic after you've been dealing on eBay (I've had 4 transactions since I got my account last week)?

When I log in it says it is a personal account and the only option to upgrade is to a business one.

Also, I've just realised now. The money from today's sale is available to withdraw now, but my sale from the beginning of the week is still pending. This is all crazy to me.

On the subject of the email, the email will appear to come from the buyers address. It doesn't come from an @paypal.com.

You can check if it's genuine by checking the links in it, and actually logging into your paypal account.
