childrens clothes

Hi just a quickie question that I hope you guys will be able to answer.

I am about to have a clear out and will be selling lots of kids clothes. My question is........

is it better to ebay or carboot?

I have had problems with ebay in the past, and I am getting a bit fed up with it as a seller due to the hike in fees, having to take paypal, more fees etc. But it is easy compared to getting up at silly o'clock on a Sunday morning after loading the car the night before and driving for at least 20 miles to the nearest half decent car boot sale.

As you can see I think there are pros and cons to both and wondered purely from a financial point of view which is better????

Any opinions gratefully received.

Thanks

I would car boot, I think their popularity is growing :)
  • I'd say ebay, at a car boot people don't seem to be willing to pay any more than a pound per item, but on ebay - listing kids clothes as a lot especially, seems to fetch good money. Depending on brands, some stuff does well individually too.

I once put 5 bin bags of baby girls clothes on for pick up only, and for 15 pounds buy it now, no pics because it would take too long and they had been stored from having a baby in Jan, until Dec (when i had a baby boy so sold the clothes i'd stored) about 10 mins after listing them a lady emailed from the other side of the country saying she'd be willing to pay 100 pounds if i'd be willing to post, and sending the 5 bin bags by courier cost about 46ish pounds, i made a really good unexpected profit!! and the buyer (who wanted to resell) was really happy with her items :D

People seem to get carried away bidding on a pair of used kids jeans on ebay because they say 'next' on the label and have only been worn twice, but at a car boot you would only get people trying to reduce the price!!

My fella gets annoyed sometimes when i'm buying stuff on ebay for the kids. asks me would you pay 20 pounds for that bag of clothes if you went someones house and they asked 'buy this bag of used clothes off me?" LOL "Oh, heres my old shoes, gizza tenner'!!:rotfl:
If google doesn't know it, how should i?
  • I would give Beansprog.com a go. Its not an auction site so you set your own price, its free to list, they just take a 10% commission once your item sells.
