Frets on Fire question

I bought a Guitar Hero guitar today from Argos for the Xbox 360 but we do not have any games to play with it yet, except for the download on xbox live.
Someone mentioned Frets on Fire and I have downloaded the software for Windows from the site but can someone please tell me what else I need to download please?
I plugged the guitar usb lead into the pc and it found the drivers for it. I click on the FoF icon on the desktop, it brings a menu up but when I click on play game, tutorial etc I get this message:
See the logfile C\ProgramFiles\FretsonFire\FretsOnFire.exe.log for details.

Can someone please tell me what I need to do next please in laymans terms.
Thanks

If you'd tell us a bit more about your pc we'd be able to help better.
I'll pluck this out of the air: you're using vista.

Hi, no, Windows XP.
I installed Full version installer and it didn't work so I also installed the one under it, Full version zip archive.

C\ProgramFiles\FretsonFire\FretsOnFire.exe.log
open that file in notepad. It should explain why it doesn't work. If you don't understand the jargon it spouts, I'm sure if you paste it on here someone will help decipher it.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
