MPV - opinions please
I've just read the thread on the Toyota Verson vs the VW Touran. My prblem is slightly different so I hope nobody minds a new thread.
I teach music and need to cart a double bass around 2 or 3 times per week. DD1 plays the cello & sometimes we need to take both together. I have a Renault Grand Scenic now which has been a good-ish car but some warranty niggles and the dealer was a nightmare (although new dealer is fab). With instruments plus kids, the car will only carry 3 of us - DH has to travel separately so I got What Car & went round the garages today.
Sadly (or otherwise) the Vauxhall Zafira, Kia Carens & Toyota Verso are out of the question because the bass won't fit in. I have narrowed it down to the Honda FR-V, the Ford S Max, the VW Touran and Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, in all cases I'm looking at a diesel around 1.8 - 2.0 litre.
Does anyone have any comments good or bad on those 4? The Citroen reads well on paper, but it was a squeeze getting the stuff in and I don't like the idea of the flappy paddle gearbox on the 2.0 diesel. The VW was dead easy to load, the Honda was lovely on the inside, as was the Ford but the salesman was very pushy. I intend to test drive all in the next fortnight. I live in the country with no public transport so reliability is important. I do around £18k miles per year, mostly A/B roads but some city driving too. The lanes round here are not very wide (2 cars can pass ok) and there are loads of tractors. All help very gratefully accepted.

I bought a new VW Touran last year and would recommend it to anyone. Done around 20,000 miles and haven't faced any problems.
Not in a position to give opinion on other models or compare and contrast them though0
