Magazine subscription, Quality magazines

Hi, I have a magazine subsciption with Quality magazines for Prima Baby. I noticed last month I didn't the free gift that are on the magazine in the shops. I emailed them, and they have told me that due toi increased postage charges, they will no longer be issuing the free gifts that 'occasionally' appear on the front cover. I pointed out that it is nearly every issue that has a free gift, and that this is not the offer that I took on. They offer a knocked down price on a magazine subscription, but there is no mention of not getting the same benefits as if you bought it in a shop. This all seems a bit of a con to me, as you are not getting a cheaper magazine, you are in fact getting an inferior one. Is there any way I can take this further? They say as the mag is heavily discounted, I shouldn't expect the gifts!

Clare, i'd ring prima baby themselves and see what they have to say as obviously they have to distribute their magazines to these subscription companies.
If you have no joy there, i would cancel the contract asap as they are not fulfilling their side of the bargain.
Why should you not get the free gifts that come with the mags??

I think this is def out of order.Try trading standards too.I would go with the line i only ordered it for the free gift, and wouldnt have ordered it if you knew you wouldnt get it. however,i think they may be just on the right side of the law.0

I got my SFX magazine this morning and it had a special gift for being a subscriber..frankly if I found that a mag I subscribed to gave gifts for its over the counter buyers but not for regulars I wouldn't bother subscribing in future.

Thanks everyone, I think I will try some of the numbers, and see what else a bit of complaining can do!

I subscribe to Prima Baby too, and have found on one of the first few pages a disclaimer which says they do not supply the free gift to subscriptions..0

I had an Esquie Magazine subscription, and they were getting loads of freebies in the newsagents, but not giving them to their subscribers... I was given the corporate line of increased postage costs and the value I was getting for my subscription outweighed what I was losing in free gifts, when I argued that Free CD's, DVD's etc had more value than the money I was saving each year on sbscription they refused to budge... So I just cancelled in the end, and bought the issues ad-hoc when I fancied, worked out that I didnt really like the magazine that much but that it became more of a habit receiving it... Hence more money saving, even if it was just £5 a quarter...£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard

I get Men's Health on subscription and they never send the free gifts either! Am cancelling as I am fed up of paying up front and yet not getting the same deal as someone who buys straight from the shop. Its a real con.0
