Thunderbird message filters

Not sure if anyone here can help.
I am trying to configure my Thunderbird message filters to send an automated reply email based on the content of the subject line of any incoming emails. I can sucessfully get a standard template to be sent but I really want to be able to send an attachment as part of that templete. Does anyone know if this is possible or if I am brkinup the wrong tree?? Mozilla Zine and other discussion forums have not really shed much light for me but i may be looking for the wrong thing
I am using Thunderbird with my POP Hotmail or Yahoo accounts if that is likely to make a difference
