hi all , i moved to npower in feb was told cos i was on low pay i could sign up for winter warmth (i think it was called ) but they said wait till you have paid first month dd.i rang up after first payment and was told that not avaliable anymore, so i went mad said they got me to sign up on false promises .i had a called from the manager who said for a good will gesture they would put me on a better tariff so i said ok .

Its come today SOL 14 tariff for gas and electric can anyone tell me if this is a good tariff please . i also noticed a quarterly standing charge on the bill i thought if you paid by dd you didnt pay standing charge or am i mistaken

Have i been fobbed off ???

Unfortunately you do have to pay a standing charge, it's their way of getting more money out of you as the price is so cheap compared with standard rates. However, if you are a high user you benefit in the long run.

As to whether it is a good rate or not, it's probably the best they offer, but whether its competitive depends on your location: the best way to find out is to try some price comparison sites.

You also have to wait AT LEAST 12 months (maybe up to 18 months!!) for the £105 annual discount. In effect it's a cancellation fee by the back door. Sneaky.

If you don't understand comparison sites, you can always post up the details on a forum like this and one of us can run you through it.

we need to know the first part of your postcode, how many kilowatt hours of each - gas and electricity - you use per year, if you have e7 electric how many units of your total are day units and how many are night units. If you want to compare tariffs then you need to know what exactly what tariffs you are on at the moment.
also what payment method you intend to use, eg monthly direct debit, variable dd, cash/cheque etc
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

    Postcode + LE4 2DT
tariffs at the min = Npower sol 14 gas inc VAT ~ 3.0570p
    elec inc VAT ~ 9.24p
Quarterly standing charge for both inc VAT = £14.44

    I pay dd gas £60 a month
    Elec £25 month

Dont know how much kilowatts i use yearly but looked on a old bill and i used 930 units of gas a quarter and 760 units elec hope that helps

i want to still pay by dd monthly

    THANKYOU
