if i decide to move to the evening and weekend plan do i need to take out a new 12 month contarct, i dont want the current offer with a 12 month renewable contarct, so i wish to pay £11.25 + £2.95 for this option but do islo have to sign up for a new 12 month contract with bt?

I think the paid for option negates the need to agree to a 12 month contract - but it's only a freephone call to find out for certain.

Or you could just email them and get them to ring you.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Their is no minimum term if you take the chargeable evening and weekend standard plan.

"Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan – standard plan

The Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan is available to eligible residential customers with no minimum period. Please note, a minimum period of 12 months applies to line rental for new customers and those switching their phone line from another provider, signing up to this calling plan.
The price is £2.95 per month plus line rental, which has a monthly cost of £11.25 if you pay by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and elect for paper-free billing."

If your only making geographical calls, not making any 0845/0870 calls, and are not worried about the 100 free texts, www.18185.co.uk may be cheaper depending on your usage. £2.95 a month will pay for approx 13 peak/evening calls a week at 5p a call, bearing in mind that weekends are inclusive anyway.Plus you dont pay if your not using it. EG Holidays.
