FT: House prices to start rising steadily as soon as October

If your going to wait till 2010, then keep an eye on the interest rates as it could end up costing a lot more long term.
I was attempting to point out that your OP was missing "2010" from the title.
"The survey found that with the property market already showing small signs of recovery, the average Brit expects house prices to start rising steadily as soon as October 2010."
Naughty journalists...!
You are correct about Interest Rates, but as I am planning a cash buy, don't need to watch them personally.

They will not be putting up rates with no warnings so there will be plenty of time to get a mortgage and find out you have saved a lot of money by waiting...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
I don't think any bear will have any problem with October 2010 being used as a marker.
The trouble with savings pots however, is anything can happen, and will have happened by 2010 to make their savings worth less.
Who knows what we will have to be spending in taxes and mortgage payments in 2010!
They said earlier that food sales are up which has helped all other sales, and that people obviously still have money so it can't be that bad. When the low interest rates, free'ing up £100's of pounds for a lot of families was put to this optimist, he simply denied this was the case, and that "most families" had decided to carry on with their mortgage payments and overpay. Yer, right. This is the UK. We didnt get into this situation because the country is so prudent.
Why do I have to go off topic in every thread!?0 -
Because you usually start ranting?Graham_Devon wrote: »Why do I have to go off topic in every thread!?

October 2010 would suit me just fine - we are planning on OH taking early retirement next autumn and downsizing our current house, the fact that the housing market will be a rising market has eased my mind a lot!

I make points!
Sometimes you do make a point, I'll give you that. It's just the having to read the rant to get to the point that puts some people off.
You still lose though

I wonder how many people visit this forum but hardly ever post here (like the above person), or never post at all. I wonder if there are loads of them, that come and watch the nutters in the asylum.:D0 -
