                    Hi all
I recently queried with Experian why I had linked addresses on my credit file which went back further than six years and got this response:
RE: LINKED ADDRESS INFORMATION
We keep linked address entries on your report for up to eight years. This is to ensure that any relevant financial information at your previous addresses is made available to lenders.
I was under the impression that they could only keep data for six years, regardless of what type of data it is?
Anyone know anything about this?
Regards

They can but what they mean is they can retain the credit data (green 0's) for another 2yrs as well mate.
Ive got same problem...... unless there is adverse data no lenders pay attention to a linked address over 3yrs old..... 2010 - year of the troll 2010 - year of the troll

They are pointless anyway because all data over 6 years old is deleted.

Isn't up to 8 years longer than 6 years? Meaning it isn't necessarily deleted after 6 years?Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0

No, Linked addresses can be held for up to 8years but can be removed after 6. Data from those addresses will be deleted after 6 unless you haven't changed your address details with the lenderBank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500

I tried ringing Experian, and removing linked addresses over 6 years old, and they would'nt budge saying I'd have to wait 8 years. They also wouldnt remove the 8 or 9 mispelt addresses from my file. Telling me to contact the lenders.Total Debt - £0.00

I have 61 records under 'linked addresses' on Experian, which actually only record 7 distinct addresses dating back to 2001, due to being a nomadic student for most of that time (the duplicates are due to the links being reported by several different banks).
I wouldn't mind knowing a way of pruning that somehow, as I can't imagine it looks great...Now: off-set mortgage *up-and-running*...

Yeah Im in a simlar situation. I think we would have to ring lender by lender. But I just tried ringing three for my first one, and he was trying to update my current address to my old previous address Grrrrr. So I think it would be best to put it in writing.Total Debt - £0.00

Even when they're companies with whom we no longer have an account and last reported the link in 2001-2003? Yikes. I don't even have an account number for my old Halifax card...Now: off-set mortgage *up-and-running*...
