Yep, it'd be the £5k increase I'd be looking for! Unlikely I know, however even if they'd do a portion of this it'd reduce the interest I'd be paying with A&L. Will probably try and sort it over the weekend.

I'd contact them during normal business hours if you possibly can.

Btw, if you ring Barclaycard Card Services on 0800 068 4899 and hold, then select 0 from the menu to speak to an adviser, you'll avoid the overseas call centre and the perishing 0870 numbers ;)

    Very best

Its worth a try - last month they increased my limit by "£1000 without me asking.

Maybe it depends what customer profile you are?
    Paying down the mortgage:
    At 1 October 2011: £226,000
    Currently: £224,499
    Aim: 85% LTV (£212,500)
    Paid £1,500
    Target remaining: 88.89%
  • Defeating Barclaycard's scheme is remarkably simple. Before balance transferring debts onto it, clear the card, either by repaying it, or if possible simply moving all the debt onto another card (doesn't matter what it is as the debts only briefly there).

They have recently offered me a 6.9% for life of the balance deal and this would be ideal for a MBNA A&L card which is soon to expire on its 0% and no doubt become extortionate (my standard rate is 21.9%). Only problem is, my limit with B'card is £5000, and I already have a balance of £4000. My A&L card has a balance of £5k too, and a limit of £8.4k.

Anyone who has spoken to Barclaycard recently - did you get any sense of what their 'appetite' to increase limits is like? Do you think they'd be more likely to increase my limit if I told them I'd close the A&L card after repayment (effectively reducing total credit)?

I earn just over £36,000 and have held my Barclaycard for 7 years, 2 late payments during that time (oversights - rectified immediately).

    Any thoughts?

I have held a Barclaycard for 6 months.

My limit was raised by £400.00 a couple of weeks ago.

    Good luck;)
