We're having 70 through the day. We have had to be really strict. Only close family and friends or else we could have had double that! We're having about another 120 at night so 190 in total. That's not to say they'll all come so only catering for 120 for the evening buffet.

We are having 30 for sit down meal and approx 50/60 more for evening.

The sit down meal we have only invited family members we see regularly and whom in one way or another have had some dealings with the wedding preperations. The evening buffet is for remaining close friends and family. We could have invited more but i felt we would only be inviting people for the sake of it and the popularity factor 'ooh look how many people we know' sort of thing. One of the other reasons i have restricted numbers is because some of the distant relatives look like Onslow and his family from Keeping Up Appearances. I am in no way Mrs Bucket but do not want the day spoilt by free riders who are only out for a free meal.

Thats very harsh!! Some of my family aren't the best presented, and don't get the chance to go out for nice food all the time so will probably pile their plates high at my wedding (like they did at my nieces christening) but there is no way on earth that I wouldn't invite them for that reason. They are my family, regardless of whether they look like Onslow and Daisy!

    Hi :hello:

We'll be having 72 for the ceremony and wedding breakfast (BBQ) Then an extra 50 or so for the evening. The evening buffet will be catering for 70-80 not 120 though as we are thinking people will be quite full up from the BBQ, cake and suprise ice-cream van in the afternoon!

We have minimum Numbers of 50 for the meal (which we are struggling to get) but hope to invite another 50 for the reception.

We're planning for April 2010 & current numbers are 86 (22 of these are children!) for the ceremony & late afternoon buffet - then another 20-50 for the evening, venue says we can invite as many as we want at no extra cost, so we'll have an open invite for work collegues etc that we may not have otherwise invited.
